The week of October 9, 2016 was a highly eventful one in oldies music. Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, making him the first songwriter to receive this honor. Rod Stewart was knighted by Prince William at London's Buckingham Palace for his contributions to music and charity. Also, fans bade a final farewell to Joan Marie Johnson of The Dixie Cups and Don Ciccone of The Critters.
